We have some P330i and P330m printers with magstripe and a 3rd party contactless encoder fitted.
In the time we've owned the printers, 100,000s of cards have passed through the them - encoding only, no printing.
However, when this many cards are being passed through, faults start to occur.
Sometimes it is fairly obvious how to fix and others the printer does not do much to help... 'MECHANICAL ERROR' is the typical response - this could mean one of 4 or 5 motors fitted inside the printer!
All suppliers I can find do not hold stock of most of the replacement parts so have 1-2 week lead times.
I saw one site describe these printers perfect for 'mission critical' tasks - NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST!
I can only recommend this printer for low volume quantities... at least in comparison to our 10,000s of cards passed a day!- Primary Card Uses:

Once the software is loaded and you have your pictures downloaded, the printer is easy to use. We have gone through several printers and this one by far is the best we have ever had for our needs. We have printed over 500 badges and have never had any problems. It is small and takes up very little room on the desk. Pictures come out great. Our company logo is sharp and clear.

We have a couple of these and overall they work well. One had a problem that the ribbon kept feeding but tech support was able to talk me through on the phone the codes to send to the printer to rectify the problem. Colour printing is slow, so we keep one machine just for colour and the other for mono/single colour to speed up runs. Only real negative is the sensor for card thickness is not great and when using thin cards we have to give them a "helping hand" into the printer even when it is set on the lowest setting!

I've printed 1000s of IDs with these printers with pretty good results. ID cards fade eventually. Service contracts are expensive - without one repairs are very expensive and trade in value is low.

We have two on location and over the past couple years have gone through about 5 of these guys. I personally wouldn't continue to use them, but our parent company wants to stick with this system, so we do. I feel like the display is so simple it can't help you with any problems the machine is having. Ours kept disconnecting from the network, but I can't get any information about why because the user interface is too simplistic and doesn't offer any info. When they work properly they are perfect for what we need and I believe most of our repairs were done under waranty so in the big picture it wasn't the end of the world.
