SmartGuard Printer Security
– by Fargo Electronics
The SmartGuard option
allows you to restrict access to your printer/encoder by requiring
that a custom access card be inserted into the security card slot
in order for the printer to operate. This custom access card is
created by using the SmartGuard software to encode a password of
your choice onto one of Fargo's unique SmartGuard access cards.
You can set up these cards to work on one specific printer or on
multiple printers at a single location.
SmartGuard makes your
entire ID card system more secure by ensuring accountability for
every card produced. When registering your printer/encoder with
Fargo, you are added to our database and assigned a personal identification
number (PIN) of your choice. Registering protects you if your card
is stolen, as Fargo will give a remote access code only to you -
the registered user.
Consumable
Locks - Card and/or Ribbon
Whether you are using
one standard card stock like blank whites, or switching back and
forth between white cards and secure e-cards in the two hopper stacks
– load them up, lock them up, and then walk away – secure
in the knowledge that your card stock is protected. Store your cards
in the locked hoppers instead of leaving them tossed on a desktop
for any passerby to pilfer, or to collect dust, fingerprints and
debris. Refer to the following card printers as examples of this secure feature:
Fargo HDP5000 Series
Magicard Rio 2e
Datacard
SP75 Plus
Datacard
SP55 Plus
Programmable Passcode
Some Eltron card printers
allow the user to define a passcode that can be programmed into
the printer's LCD panel. If the passcode feature is activated, the
user must enter in the proper code to enable the printer.
Fargo
Electronics features the Print Security
Suite and Print Security Manager with select Fargo printers - both outstanding tools to enhance
site/printer/consumable security. For more information, contact
