First Steps to Take with Your New ID Card Printer

  • Before unpacking your printer, inspect the package to ensure that no damage has occurred during shipping. Make sure that all supplied accessories are included. If anything appears to be missing or damaged, call ID Wholesaler right away at (800) 321-4405.
  • Choose a good location for your ID card printer. If multiple people will be using the equipment, make sure it’s set-up in a convenient, accessible location. Do not install unit near heat sources such as radiators or air ducts or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, or mechanical vibration.
  • Reference the user’s manual for installation instructions specific to your printer model. The manual will outline how to install a ribbon, load cards in the card hopper, and more. In addition to setting up the printer, you will need to download the printer driver to any computer that will be using the printer.
  • Once the printer is set up, print a test card. Again, reference the user’s manual if questions. Print a few test cards to familiarize yourself with the unit. As with anything new, with practice, you’ll begin to feel more comfortable.
