Optimizing College ID Cards
The good news is that now more than ever, student ID cards can be maximized for a wide variety of uses across campus. This makes the process more streamlined and cost-effective for both the student and the university.
I’ve seen the vast majority of schools change the way they use their college student IDs throughout my five years here at ID Wholesaler. Many universities now use a single card to manage all of the following:
- visual identification for students, faculty, and staff
- dormitory door and teacher/staff lounge access
- library and media resources check-out
- on-campus student food services
- bookstore purchases and vending machines
In addition, I’ve seen institutions across the country use implement student ID cards for things like:
- Student and sports activities building access
- Debit card transactions and purchases
- Equipment rental
- Document printing
College faculty and staff are typically also issued an ID card for visual identification, building and door access, and also privileged access to restricted classrooms or other secured areas on campus.
Enhanced Security
For more sophisticated visual verification, some universities opt for holographic foils and laminates which can be either embedded into ID cards or applied directly onto the card’s surface.
Holograms substantially augment an ID card’s protection from fraudulent duplication. Holographic foils are easily applied by hand or embedded below a card’s surface for advanced security.
