HID Fargo DTC4250e card printers are easy for anyone to use and are flexible to keep up with the changing needs of your organization. Designed for mid-volume, low to high security card applications, Fargo 4250 ID card printers are ideal for printing and encoding student ID cards, employee badges, loyalty cards, membership cards, and more. Every DTC4250e is backed by a three-year manufacturer’s warranty that includes one no-questions-asked printhead replacement and 365 days of printer loaner coverage.
Choosing between the single-sided or dual-sided Fargo 4250 depends on how much and what type of information you need printed to your cards. If you only need the bare essentials, such as company name, cardholder name, and cardholder photo, then the single-sided DTC4250e will be ideal. Remember, you can always upgrade your single-sided printer to perform dual-sided printing if your needs change. However, if you know that you will be encoding and printing smart cards from your DTC4250e, or if you need to print additional information or encode a magnetic stripe to the card back, then you are a prime candidate for dual-sided printing. With dual-sided printing, you can print to both sides of your card in a single pass – saving you time and simplifying your card production process.
Customers frequently ask whether it is possible to print to both sides of a card using a single-sided DTC4250e printer by manually flipping printed cards, reloading the hopper, and giving the printed cards a second pass through the printer. Technically, this is possible, but it's not recommended. This method exposes your printer’s printhead to additional dust, debris, and oil from your fingertips, which leads to costly printhead damage. Further, damage to a printhead from non-standard use (such as using a single-sided printer for dual-sided printing) voids your manufacturer warranty coverage, ultimately costing you more in the long run. If you invest in a single-sided printer and discover later that you need dual-sided printing, you can simply purchase the duplex printing module to upgrade your printer.
In anticipation of changing card technologies and customers’ evolving needs, the HID Fargo DTC4250e series offers a variety of field-upgradeable printer modules. In other words, if and when your card printing needs change, your DTC4250e card printer is prepared to change right along with them. The following features can easily be upgraded at any time:
Dual-sided printing: The DTC4250e duplex module increases the printable area of your cards, allowing you to print on both sides of a card in one pass.
WiFi: As standard, every DTC4250e comes with Ethernet connectivity to allow remote printer access by users on a shared network. Add optional Wi-Fi connectivity with the Wi-Fi Accessory for convenient access to your ID card printer anytime, anywhere!
Dual-input card hopper: Reduce the amount of time spent reloading cards and increase printing efficiency with the dual-input card hopper, which holds 200 cards at a time. The dual-input card hopper upgrade also allows you to switch between card stocks for distinct card printing applications.
Same-side input/output hopper: For smaller workspaces where space is at a premium, the Fargo 4250 ID card printer can be upgraded to include a same-side input / output hopper to minimize your printer’s footprint and occupy less space.
