What If Your ID Card Printer Breaks Down?
A while back, one of our customers was having problems with his ID card printer. The ribbons were breaking, cards
jamming, and the printer was just not functioning properly overall. When asked by one of our ID Professionals, the customer had declined to extend the service contract on their equipment when they bought it. Unfortunately, the machine was now out of warranty.
There wasn't room in the budget for a new ID card printer, and this customer couldn't send the printer off to be fixed because they had just hired a group of new employees and needed to make access cards for them now.
Most people don't think about servicing their ID equipment until there's a problem. By this time, it can be too late. Typically, this usually results in a bigger loss of money, time, and resources than if they were just prepared from the start.
Fortunately for our customer, our Technical Support Team was still able to provide them with an extended service plan and send them a loaner printer to use while their machine was being fixed. It certainly cost them more to do this than if they would have purchased the plan initially, but at least their new employees were going to be badged and ready to go on Monday morning.
If you have any questions about how an extended service plan works, whether or not your card printer equipment qualifies, or the costs associated with an extended service plan, please contact an ID Professional at (800)321-4405. We're here to help!
