What is the “F” Panel for on a YMCFKO Ink Ribbon?

Some printer manufacturers offer ink ribbons and printers that can work with a color ribbon that includes an "F" panel on the ribbon. So what is the "F" panel for on a YMCFKO ink ribbon? The "F" panel is a fluorescing panel that allows you to print images that are only visible with ultraviolet (UV) light; the primary reason for using this type of ribbon is to increase card security. UV lights are fairly inexpensive and can be used at security check points to read the UV text on an ID card. Printing UV images or text on ID cards provides an extra security layer, because the text is not visible to the naked eye. This makes it considerably more difficult to make a counterfeit ID. If you look at your Driver's License or credit card under a UV lamp, chances are you will see some text or an image printed in fluorescent ink. Typically, retail stores even have UV light right at their checkout registers. A number of printer manufacturer's offer printers with YMCFKO or YMCFKOK ribbons and the utility needed to print an image or text that you select for increased security on your card. In addition, some educational facilities will print the date, the time, and the name of the person who made the card to help eliminate counterfeit or unauthorized cards.
