What is UV ribbon?Examples of UV Ribbons The "UV" or ultraviolet panel on the color ribbon for your ID card printer is a fluorescing panel that allows you to print grayscale text or images that are only visible with ultraviolet (UV) light. Think of it as a covert visual security element on a card that allows invisible graphics to turn red only when viewed under ultraviolet light.

How is UV ribbon used? Many organizations will choose UV ink printing, because it's a cost-effective alternative to the added security of custom holographic lamination.  Additionally, UV ink printing provides this unique and valuable security benefit without having to purchase additional hardware. UV ink printing is very easy to use. Simply enable this feature in your printer driver, and configure the UV placement method desired.

Which application uses UV ribbons most often? Typically UV printing can be found in organizations that require a higher level of security (such as military or government agencies).
