In order to make your printer more portable, the first thing you'll need is a printer that is Ethernet capable which will allow more than one user to connect and send print jobs to your ID card printer.

It's also a good idea to purchase software that is portable or capable of being networked. (e.g., Card Exchange lets you bring your software with you via a dongle). There are also networked versions such as Card Exchange Small Business Server if you need to share database information from another computer.
