The reader sends the card information to the access control software which determines whether or not the locked door will be unlocked for entry.

AWID Prox Card Types
- Standard PVC cards can be printed on one or both sides and conveniently carried in a wallet, on a badge clip or a badge reel.
- Clamshell cards come with a vertical slot punch to use with a badge clip or badge reel for convenient applicability to access control systems.
- Key tags (“wafer”) incorporate proximity technology into a small disk-shaped transponder. Just attach the adhesive-backed tag to any non-metallic card or device, and you instantly have a proximity card!
