Just Clip It: Shopping for a Badge Clip

Badge clips are a popular choice for displaying photo IDs. They are a great option for companies that require their employees to wear an ID badge for visual identification but do not need to remove it for door access. Also called strap clips, badge clips can be attached to a shirt pocket and are easily seen on the wearer. Most clips are held on by a reliable spring clip and are available in different sizes, colors, and materials.

Materials
Three popular badge clip materials are mylar, nylon, and vinyl.

  • Mylar badge clips feature high strength and heat resistant properties. They have the least amount of stretch and retain their shape under stress.
  • Nylon badge clips are strong, silky-smooth, colorfast, and wear resistant. Nylon is the material of choice in applications where both stretch and chemical resistance is needed.
  • Vinyl badge clips combine some of the properties of both mylar and nylon badge clip materials at a reduced cost. Vinyl badge clips feature the soft feel of nylon with the use of plasticizer.

Colors & Sizes
Badge clips also come in a variety of colors and sizes. Color combinations can be used to visually distinguish groups of employees, departments, or access levels. It is an easy way to add yet another level of visual security. Several sizes are available to suit various needs. For example, extra-long badge clips are available for those who need to wear multiple ID badges.

Quantities
Most badge clips are typically sold in quantities of 100 or 500 pieces. When purchasing badge clips, don’t forget to also shop for a slot punch so that you can attach the badge clips to your cards.

We realize that it can be tricky to identify the subtle differences between the various types of badge clips. Just call an ID Professional for help with choosing the best badge accessory for your specific needs.
