reasons. Some organizations want to print photo IDs or employee badges on separate card stock than their RFID badges in case a card is lost or stolen. Other customers want to print directly on their RFID badges for employees and then issue standard photo IDs to contractors and visitors that spend time on-site but do not require door entry. A card hopper is a mechanism on an ID card printer that holds cards either before they are printed ("input hopper") or collects cards after they have been printed ("output hopper"). Card hoppers also to keep ID cards clean and contaminate-free.
For ID printers without input hoppers, cards have to be hand-fed into the printer, one card at a time. The majority of the printers we carry will have a tray or hopper to hold 
the cards, and they will vary in how many cards can fit in the hopper. Several options allow for you to add a dual input hopper which allows a user with multiple card printing types to print more efficiently. When you choose an ID card printer that does have dual card hoppers, it will help ensure that your cards stay clean and debris-free. It will also help save you time by enabling you to switch between hoppers when printing each type of badge versus trying to change out the tray each time you need to flip between card types.
