Bundle up your ID badges to protect them from the elements with a layer of lamination. Badges printed on
laminating ID card printers are proven to produce longer-lasting cards that not only reduce fading and lend in card longevity but also increase card security.
What is Lamination?
Lamination adds a thin clear or holographic layer to the surface of the card during the printing process, protecting its images and information. Depending on your printer model, the layer can be applied to one or both sides of the card. While the lamination is thin, it provides a considerable amount of protection and durability to your card. Plus, it provides a shield against image-fading UV light.
Additional Benefits of Lamination
In addition to extending the card life and preserving the images, lamination also adds an extra layer of security with another level of defense against forgery and tampering. Lamination with holographic film or microtext makes it even more difficult for counterfeiters to duplicate cards.
You should definitely consider an ID card printer wit

h lamination capabilities if your cards will:
- need to last longer than a year
- be outside for long periods of time
- be frequently swiped with a card reader
- be subjected to chemicals or abrasive contact
Be Sure to Choose the Right ID Cards
When using a laminating printer, we strongly recommend using
composite PET/PVC cards rather than 100% PVC cards. This is because composite PET/PVC cards are 60% PVC plastic and 40% PET plastic which is a stronger combination that's specifically designed to withstand the heat that's generated by the lamination process.
If you want to add lamination to your cards and do not currently have a laminating printer, you may not need to purchase an entirely new printer. Some printer models are field upgradeable to lamination.
